Becoming a vita volunteer
-
1. Better Impact
Sign up on our volunteer management website, Better Impact. This will be your launch pad for all training and shift assignments.
-
2. Background Check
Upload information necessary to complete a background check into Better Impact.
-
3. Begin Training
Portions of the training will be self-taught lessons either through the IRS or United Way VITA's Better Impact site. In-person/virtual training will also be provided, particularly for training in the tax software and Michigan taxes. Training typically takes place between December and January once updated training materials are provided.
-
4. Sign up for shifts
Once your intended certifications have been passed, you will be able to sign up for tax clinic shifts! This will also be done in Better Impact.
